Geneva Car Show - Mercedes-Benz SLR Roadster Wins Prize
At the 2008 Geneva car show Merceds Benz won the "Auto 1 von Europa" prize with its Mercedes-Benz SLR Roadster Readers of 26 European car magazines voted This prize is voted for by readers of 26 European car magazines and can be considered as one of the most democratic prizes the automotive industry offers. In 6 categories the readers select the best car in category. The three most voted cars in every category were then undergoing further screening and tests by a panel of experienced automotive technicians, editors of car magazines and international race drivers. After a two day screening the winners were proclaimed.
Super sports car In the category cabriolets and roadsters they elected a true super sports car with exceptional values. Both in respect to the technical values as also in respect to the power of the car, the Mercedes-Benz SLR Roadster shows extraordinary values. The chassis is made in carbon, just like Formula 1 cars are built, which makes for a very stiff and stable construction and high safety values.
Powerful engine brings maximum speed of 332 km/h The AMG-V8-compressor engine develops 460 kW/626 PS and drives the super sports car to a maximum speed of 332 km/h. That's the speed formula one racers reach on the fastest stretches of the racing circuits! Conclusion: A great car, but certainly not for everybody to drive....
