Winterthur the friendly town north of Zurich
The friendly town north of Zurich Everybody has heared of Zurich, but there is an other smaller town only 20 minutes north of Zurich that is worth a visit, especially if you are interested in the arts. Winterthur can be reached by train either directly from the airport or from Zurich main station in about 15 to 20 minutes. The old town of Winterthur has a large pedestrian area and plenty of well preserved old town houses. Market days The market on Tuesday and Friday morning is lively and offers fruit, veggies meat, local cheese, wine, pasta and plenty of other goodies. Museums If you are interested in arts and paintings, there are many museums that show masterpieces from various well known European painters. For the list of museums see the link provided below, there are too many to mention them all. Then there is the Technorama, a Smithonian style musem of technology that offers plenty of experiments for the visitor and is a great stop for the entire family. Kids love this place! Student town with great entertainment Winterthur is also a student town with plenty of great bars and restaurants, clubs and theaters. If you're looking for a good evening out, then a hop from Zurich to Winterthur is a good idea too! A visit to the old town of Witnerthur is highly recommended if you are in the Zurich area!
